I first started personal training with Luke at Switch on Fitness back in June 2011. I was a Size 16 and I had a baby 18 months prior. This gave me the incentive to lose weight!


I’ve now been training for 4 months and my life has changed for the better. I feel fantastic. I have so much more energy to play with my little girl and not be tired and worn down. With my job as Lifeguard I no longer struggle with my fitness and rescue times. I’m actually able to recover faster which has been a big factor for me to keep up with the training. My fitness has improved massively.


I realised I had no motivation before I started. And now I feel I have the knowledge and the tools to lose the weight and keep it off. Luke pushes you to a point encouraging you to carry on when you feel like giving up. He never makes it easy and motivates you beyond what you thought you could do. He is flexible, professional and always pushes you to your limits. No training sessions is ever the same and you never know what to expect.


Luke also gave me ways to stay on track outside of the training sessions with gym programmes I can do in my own time or even ones I could do at home. This was so perfect for me having a toddler around. I could do it without having to worry about childcare or paying a gym membership.


My goal is to be a size 8 and I can safely say that Luke will definitely get me there. I feel amazing  when someone says to you ‘wow you look really good’ and you haven’t even reached your goal yet it's brilliant. You feel great about yourself and it gives you a massive confidence boost. Whatever you want to achieve Luke makes it a reality. He puts you on the right track and gets you there. I have enjoyed every second. I moan and groan in the session but he has a way to make you work harder and feel good which makes you want to succeed even more!

After countless failed attempts to lose weight, I decided it was time to seek expert advice through a personal trainer. I was recommended to use Switch on Fitness Personal Training in Swindon if I wanted great results at an affordable price, that is exactly what I was given by Luke at Switch on Fitness.


I have been given different home workouts each month by my personal trainer along with each weeks training session comprising of varied workouts - all of which have been enjoyable and made fun (while still remaining hard enough!) My mind was quickly changed from 'I need to diet to lose weight', to 'eating right & exercising correctly shifts my body fat & builds muscle'. I've dropped from 13st 1lb to 10st 12lb within 5 months. I decided it was important I changed my lifestyle. I wanted to start eating healthy, exercise and look after my body. I have my own beauty business and two young children and am always on the go. I would drink lots of tea, coffee and snack on crisps, biscuits and chocolates thorough out the day and only really had one main meal a day. When I would get home I would feel tired and low.  I didn’t want to join the gym, as I found it tedious, and needed someone to motivate and drive me to make the changes.

 

I saw two other instructors before I chose to train with Luke. My first impression of Luke was he was very professional, approachable, and enthusiastic and came across very passionate about his work. He was confident that he could help me achieve my goals and reassured me I can make these changes.  He was also very accommodating as he was able to train me in the evening and on weekends. 

 

I have been training with Luke twice a week for the last few months and I feel fantastic! I’m now energetic, feel strong and very happy.  He educated me on the right foods to eat and designed a food plan for me, which was so easy to follow!  I now drink decaf beverages and water whilst working and only snack on fruit, if I need too.  Luke also has designed me a personal training programme which I can do in my own time.

 

Luke pushes me enough to keep going and not to give up, every personal training session has been different and I look forward to what Luke has arranged for me on training days. I have even done boxing and used battle ropes, which was hard work but very satisfying.

 

My main goal was to tone my body and look fit and healthy I began to see results just after a couple of month and so did my, children, friends and family, I feel more confident about myself, my body and my skin is glowing and I love my new lifestyle, thank you so much Luke

When I first started personal training with Luke, I doubted that I would ever do another triathlon, despite having previously represented Great Britain in World Championships and winning a European silver medal. A knee injury prevented me from training consistently, despite surgery and physiotherapy. I had put on weight and my immune system was severely compromised. I had never felt so unfit in my life.

 

Luke devised a corrective programme of exercises to improve my flexibility, stability and strength, which was designed to support my knee and to correct the imbalances that had developed as a result of the injury. I had two sessions per week of one-to-one personal training with Luke and he advised me on triathlon-specific training sessions to do on my own. He also made a detailed analysis of everything I ate and drank and advised me how to make changes to ensure that my nutrition matched my training needs.

 

What has impressed me most about Luke is his ability to make me aware of what I can achieve if I set my mind to it. He does regular fitness, strength and endurance tests to check my progress and I have made huge improvements in all those areas since I started. He has a huge repertoire of exercises and is therefore able to make every session different and, despite the extreme effort required, very satisfying. There is plenty of pace and variety in every session so that time goes very quickly. The equipment he uses is more cutting edge than any gym I’ve been to – and there are pink boxing gloves for girls!

 

Luke is always honest about what needs to be done and he doesn’t take shortcuts for instant results that won’t last. So much so that I am now looking forward to racing in international triathlons again. Who would have thought it?

Five months ago I went to my doctors regarding some health problems. 2 weeks later my results were back. They were clear. The doctor's advised the need to lose weight after many years of yo-yo dieting and no exercise.

 

Understanding that this time I needed to do something positive, this is when I started to chat to Luke at Switch on Fitness about how to manage and achieve long term results with personal training.

 

Luke has always said that it was not just about the weight loss. It had to be a life change. We are five months into my journey and for Luke to engage me in exercise has not always been easy but throughout Luke has encouraged, motivated and given me confidence to achieve more every time we train.

 

Over the months we have looked at my diet, carefully re-educating my eating habits. Luke has encouraged me to do other forms of training on my own; swimming, circuits, running and my daily exercise routine has gone from zero to trying different forms of training five times a week.

 

With great pride I can say my fitness level has gone up by 40%, I’m over a stone lighter, 14 inches smaller. But most of all my health, thinking, motivation and my enjoyment for exercise has changed for the better.

Heaven, 44

I have Fibromyalgia and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) I was getting fatter and I wasn’t happy about it…AT ALL! I had just given up all hope of being ‘fit’ because (I believed) I was bound by my medical conditions to not be able to do any exercise. The more I explained my physical limitations and told him all the things I couldn’t do, the more Luke showed me what I COULD do!

 

I THOUGHT exercise would mean I would have to get out of breath but I was proved wrong. I also thought, with all the pain I have all over my body, that being physically, actively mobile would hurt me too much. I was proven wrong again!

 

When I thought there was no hope Luke at Switch on Fitness showed me that I had every hope..and then some!

 

Luke studied my problems and gave me specific solutions. He gave me a personal exercise program which after following for just 2 weeks…I lost 5lb!!

 

After getting into the new routine of ‘what I can do’ in the way of exercise Luke then turned his expertise onto my FOOD & MOOD! He went over my food diary with me and explained the effects what I was eating had on my mood. Then he gave me a list of foods I should eat, how much and when, also explaining how this diet would help me with nutrition and general wellness.

 

Luke’s personal training has changed my life! I used to have to sleep in the afternoons; I no longer do that! I used to be in severe pain all day and I now I barely have any pain anywhere!

Our 15 year old son is an avid sports man playing everything from football to tennis so when he started to get pains in different parts of his legs sometimes quite bad we decided to take him to the doctors. She decided it was his legs growing faster than his muscle and advised physiotherapy. The wait was going to be about six weeks so I called Luke at Switch on Fitness who was fantastic and came around the next day.

 

Luke gave Jonathen some really good advice and help. He worked with Jon on some stretches and exercises that were simple and quick to do advising on the correct posture and technique. Jon noticed a difference quite quickly as did his football manager and Luke only needed to visit us three times. Due to the fab work Luke did with Jon it improved his legs and he doesn't complain about pain now he also knows what to do if they start to play up again. 

 

I would definitely recommend Luke for help with muscles and sports pain and know if we need any more help or advice he is there on the end of the phone. If only we had known him earlier Jon wouldn't have been in pain for so long.  Thanks Luke for all your help it was very much appreciated by us and Jonathen.

I have two occupations; one as a lifeguard and the other as a film maker, both of which are physically demanding.  Staying fit, and being able to lift and transport heavy equipment are really important. Luke helped me build up my strength and endurance so now I can complete my day to day tasks much more efficiently. I now feel I can do strenuous activity safely which is so essential. The training programmes were designed to work on my technique so I'm less likely to get hurt whilst at work. I enjoyed all my training session which are fun and unique, nothing like what I have experienced before.

 

I am someone who had never done weight training before. Now I find my self lifting more than my body weight in Squats, Chest Press and Dead-lifts and I'm ecstatic!!

A couple of years ago I started to get pain in my lower back which led me to seek treatment by a chiropractor. Although the improvement was rapid, I was still returning every six weeks. Deep down I knew that I needed to get into the habit of exercising as it was clear that spending long hours at a computer was hampering my recovery.


Then a couple of months ago I found myself reading testimonials (just like this one!) about the difference Switch On Fitness made to them. I was unsure, but as soon as I first contacted Luke I knew that I had made the right choice. After an initial assessment he designed a corrective programme to help my back alongside my new personal training programme. It was reassuring to know I wouldn’t make things worse - the programme is tailored to me and I am being taught the correct way to do each exercise.


The weekly sessions with Luke are always changing so there is no danger of getting bored! He brings various bits of equipment to keep variety in the programme. Of course it is not easy. Luke always pushes me slightly beyond what I consider to be my limit, but does so with good humour and lots of encouragement. He makes me believe I can do what he is asking, and is always willing to explain what each exercise will achieve. I won’t forget seeing the results after the first 6 weeks... it really motivated me to see the improvement which was beyond my expectations!


I’m now keen to keep exercising, supporting my training with some healthier choices in my daily diet... also recommended by Luke. My back has improved, but most importantly I feel generally fitter. Thanks  Luke!
